๐งช Dialyzer Clearance Calculator Clinical Efficiency Tool
Calculate dialyzer clearance for urea or any substance using pre and post dialyzer concentrations
๐ How to Calculate Dialyzer Clearance
- Adjust the blood flow at a certain speed: 200, 300, or 400 ml/min.
- Keep the machine running for a minimum of 5 minutes without any alarm.
- Take two samples at the same time from the injection ports directly pre and post dialyzer.
- Compute the lab results (concentration of substance in pre-dialyzer and post-dialyzer blood).
๐ Clearance Formula: K = (Cpre - Cpost) ร Qb / Cpre
Where: K = Clearance (ml/min), Cpre = Pre-dialyzer concentration, Cpost = Post-dialyzer concentration, Qb = Blood flow rate (ml/min)
Where: K = Clearance (ml/min), Cpre = Pre-dialyzer concentration, Cpost = Post-dialyzer concentration, Qb = Blood flow rate (ml/min)

๐ก Clinical Interpretation
โข Urea clearance (Kt/V): Typical urea clearance values range from 180โ300 ml/min depending on blood flow and dialyzer efficiency.
โข High clearance (>250 ml/min): Indicates efficient dialyzer and good blood access.
โข Low clearance (<200 ml/min): May suggest recirculation, clotting, or access dysfunction.
โข For accurate assessment, measure at steady state (after 5+ minutes) and use consistent blood flow.
