๐Ÿงช Dialyzer Clearance Calculator Clinical Efficiency Tool

Calculate dialyzer clearance for urea or any substance using pre and post dialyzer concentrations

๐Ÿ“‹ How to Calculate Dialyzer Clearance

  1. Adjust the blood flow at a certain speed: 200, 300, or 400 ml/min.
  2. Keep the machine running for a minimum of 5 minutes without any alarm.
  3. Take two samples at the same time from the injection ports directly pre and post dialyzer.
  4. Compute the lab results (concentration of substance in pre-dialyzer and post-dialyzer blood).
๐Ÿ“ Clearance Formula: K = (Cpre - Cpost) ร— Qb / Cpre
Where: K = Clearance (ml/min), Cpre = Pre-dialyzer concentration, Cpost = Post-dialyzer concentration, Qb = Blood flow rate (ml/min)

๐Ÿ’ก Clinical Interpretation

โ€ข Urea clearance (Kt/V): Typical urea clearance values range from 180โ€“300 ml/min depending on blood flow and dialyzer efficiency.
โ€ข High clearance (>250 ml/min): Indicates efficient dialyzer and good blood access.
โ€ข Low clearance (<200 ml/min): May suggest recirculation, clotting, or access dysfunction.
โ€ข For accurate assessment, measure at steady state (after 5+ minutes) and use consistent blood flow.

โš•๏ธ Clearance calculation based on standard formula: K = (Cpre - Cpost) ร— Qb / Cpre

This calculator is for educational purposes. Clinical decisions should be made by healthcare professionals based on formal Kt/V measurements and patient assessment.
