Complement Activation

Complement activation products include:

anaphylatoxins such as C3a, which may cause allergic reactions during dialysis, and can also lead to

acute intradialytic pulmonary hypertension,

chronic low-grade systemic inflammation, and

leukocyte dysfunction.
