Livedo reticularis is a netlike, purple or blue mottling of the skin. It most commonly occurs on the lower legs and is due to enlargement of the blood vessels under the skin.
The condition is more common in people with vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels), antiphospholipid syndrome (a disorder in which blood clots more readily than normal), and in those who have an extreme sensitivity to cold.
Livedo reticularis itself is harmless and does not need treatment, although any associated disorder may need medical attention
