CHLOASMA
CHLOASMA
Also known as melasma, chloasma is a skin condition is which dark patches appear on the face, mainly on the forehead, nose, and cheeks. Exposure to sunlight makes the condition worse. The cause of chloasma is unknown, but it sometimes develops during pregnancy or is associated with menopause or use of oral contraceptives. The patches usually fade by themselves within a few months.
Avoiding triggers, such as sunlight, can help.
The patches can be hidden with special camouflage creams. In severe cases, a doctor may recommend a skin-lightening cream, laser treatment, or chemical peels to remove the outer layer of skin
