CERVICAL ECTROPION
CERVICAL ECTROPION
Also sometimes called cervical ectopy or cervical erosion, cervical ectropion is a condition in which cells that are normally found in the inner lining of the cervix also appear on its outer surface.
In many cases, there is no obvious cause for the condition, but it may sometimes be present from birth or may be associated with long-term use of oral contraceptives or pregnancy.
Most women have few or no symptoms, and the condition disappears by itself without treatment. However, some women experience vaginal bleeding at unexpected times or have a vaginal discharge. In such cases, medical advice should be sought.
