๐Ÿ”„ Incremental Dialysis Prescribing

Evidence-based tool for tailoring hemodialysis prescription based on residual kidney function

๐Ÿ’ก Principle: Total clearance = Dialysis clearance + Residual kidney function (KRU). Target total clearance adjusts based on residual function.

๐Ÿ‘ค Patient Information
๐Ÿงฌ Residual Kidney Function
mL/min
Measured from 24-hour urine collection. 0 = anuric.
mL/day
๐Ÿ’‰ Current Dialysis Prescription
hours
mL/min
Dialyzer urea clearance at blood flow rate.
L
๐ŸŽฏ Treatment Targets
per week
Standard target is 2.3 per week for anuric patients.

๐Ÿ“– Understanding the Results

Key Metrics:
  • stdKt/V - Standard Kt/V per week. Target: 2.3 for anuric patients.
  • EKR - Equivalent Renal Clearance (mL/min). Higher is better.
  • KRU - Residual kidney urea clearance. Higher = more residual function.
  • Total stdKt/V - Combined dialysis + residual clearance.
Interpretation Guidelines:
  • โ— Adequate: Total stdKt/V โ‰ฅ target
  • โ— Borderline: Total stdKt/V within 10% of target
  • โ— Inadequate: Total stdKt/V < target
  • โ— Incremental: Consider reducing frequency/duration if KRU โ‰ฅ 3 mL/min and stable
