Composition


Each tablet contains: Diphenoxylate hydrochloride 2.5 mg, Atropine sulphate 0.025 mg


Indications


For symptomatic treatment of acute diar­rhea, including bacillary dysentery, gas­troenteritis and chronic diarrhea which are associated with ulcerative colitis, irritable colon, colostomy, gastrectomy, ileostomy,
bowel disorders.


Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients.

Precautions

Intard should be used with caution in patients with abnormal liver function, hepa­torenal disorders.
Diphenoxylate may have an additive effect with central nervous system depressants (e.g. barbiturates, alcohol).
Patients using MAOI should be kept under close observation.


Dosage and Administration

Adults
Initial dose: 2 tablets three to four times daily.
In acute diarrhea: 4 tablets as a starting dose followed by 2 tablets every six to eight hours until diarrhea is controlled and for a total period of not more than 48 hours. Or as directed by the physician.
