2. All Nursing staff working in renal unit should be trained in the preparation of PD Machine.

3. Two (2) Nurses, of whom one should be an experienced nurse , should carry out this procedure.

4. A strict Aseptic technique should be maintained throughout the procedure as per policy and procedure.

5. Hand washing should be preformed as per policy and procedure on hand washing technique.

1. Trolley cleaned and wiped with sprite 70%.

2. Peritoneal dialysis lines.

3. Peritoneal dialysis fluid as per prescription.

4. On & Off Pack ( Dressing Pack).

5. Surgical Mask.

6. Injection heparin.

7. Additive drugs if any.

8. Sterile Hand towel.

9. Frekaderm hand rub.

10. Frekasept spray.

PROCEDURE

01	First Nurse washes and dries her hand.	To prevent infection
02	Apply Frekaderm hand rub on Both hands and rub thoroughly.
03	Turn the Machine on.

04	After the self-test has been completed press Key (after audible signal).	To ensure that the machine is safe for use.
05	Removes any objection off the scale and press key.	To avoid errors in scale test
06	Take the dialysate out at the over wrap and place on the heater tray. Press key.	To worm the fluid to body temperature before infusing.
07	Check the parameters on the screen and press key to change setting if necessary. Press key to continue the treatment.	To avoid injury to injury to peritoneum and to prevent shivering.
08	Once the heating time has elapsed the machine is ready for installation of tubing set. Press key.
09	Take the tubing set out of the packaging and close all line clamps.
10	Place the line in the respective upper clamps.
11	Clamp the patient connector into the holder. Press key.
12	Install the lines in the lower clamps.
13	Connect the drainage bag to the drainage line. Press key.
14	Hang dialysate bags on the drip stand.
15	Second Nurse sprays Frekasept to the outer part of insertion port (bag) and the First Nurse connect the lines to bags.	To prevent infection
16	Once the tubing set primed automatically, open the clamp on the patient line. Press key.	To prevent as entry in to the operational Cavity.
17	Once patient line is filled, close the clamp. Press key.
18	Now the Machine is ready to be connected to patient. Note: Start Key
