In telangiectasia, the small blood vessels just beneath the skin become enlarged, causing redness and a broken veins appearance. It most commonly occurs on the nose and cheeks.
Telangiectasia may be due to a skin disorder, such as rosacea, overexposure to the sun, or long-term excessive alcohol consumption. Often, there is no obvious cause.
