In meralgia paresthetica, there are abnormal sensations, such as burning pain, numbness, and tingling in the outer thigh. Symptoms are often made worse by standing or walking.
The condition is due to a specific nerve being trapped under a ligament in the groin.
In many cases, the cause is unknown, although sometimes it can result from injury or overuse. It can also be associated with pregnancy and obesity.
