  PURPOSE<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
 1.To prepare accurately the peritoneal dialysis Machine in accordance with the dialysis prescription.   <\/h5>\n\n\n\n
2.To prevent cross infection.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
1.The physician order to be obtained<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

2.         All Nursing staff working in renal unit should be trained in the preparation of PD Machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.         Two (2) Nurses, of whom one should be an experienced nurse , should carry out this procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.         A strict Aseptic technique should be maintained throughout the procedure as per policy and procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.         Hand washing should be preformed as per policy and procedure on hand washing technique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EQUIPMENT<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

1.         Trolley cleaned and wiped with sprite 70%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.         Peritoneal dialysis lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.         Peritoneal dialysis fluid as per prescription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.         On & Off Pack ( Dressing Pack).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.         Surgical Mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.         Injection heparin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.         Additive drugs if any.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.         Sterile Hand towel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.         Frekaderm hand rub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.       Frekasept spray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

06<\/td>Take the dialysate out at the over wrap and place on the heater tray. Press key.  <\/td>To worm the fluid to body temperature before infusing.<\/td><\/tr>
07<\/td>Check the parameters on the screen and press       key to change setting if necessary. Press key to continue the treatment.  <\/td>To avoid injury to injury to peritoneum and to prevent shivering.<\/td><\/tr>
08<\/td>Once the heating time has elapsed  the machine is ready for installation of tubing set. Press key.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
09<\/td>Take the tubing set out of the packaging and close all line clamps.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
10<\/td>Place the line in the respective upper clamps.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
11<\/td>Clamp the patient connector into the holder. Press key.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
12<\/td>Install the lines in the lower clamps.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
13<\/td>Connect the drainage bag to the drainage line. Press key.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
14<\/td>Hang dialysate bags on the drip stand.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
15<\/td>Second Nurse sprays Frekasept to the outer part of insertion port (bag) and the First Nurse connect the lines to bags.  <\/td>To prevent infection<\/td><\/tr>
16<\/td>Once the tubing set primed automatically, open the clamp on the patient line. Press     key.  <\/td>To prevent as entry in to the operational Cavity.  <\/td><\/tr>
17<\/td>Once patient line is filled, close the clamp. Press key.  <\/td> <\/td><\/tr>
